Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Hebrews
Heb 11:33-39
Brethren: The Saints by faith conquered kingdoms, wrought justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, recovered strength from weakness, became valiant in battle, put to flight armies of aliens. Women had their dead restored to them by resurrection. Others were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might find a better resurrection. Others had experience of mockery and stripes, yes, even of chains and prisons. They were stoned, they were sawed asunder, they were tempted, they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, distressed, afflicted - of whom the world was not worthy - wandering in deserts, mountains, caves and holes in the earth. And all these, approved by the testimony of faith, were found in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Hebrǽos
Hebr 11:33-39
Ps 132:1-2
Behold, how good it is, and how pleasant, where brethren dwell as one! It is as when the precious ointment upon the head runs down over the beard, the beard of Aaron. Alleluia, alleluia.
℣. This is the true fraternal love, which conquers the wickedness of the world: holding fast to the glory of the heavenly kingdom, it has followed Christ. Alleluia.
Ps 132:1-2
℣. Sicut unguéntum in cápite, quod descéndit in barbam, barbam Aaron. Allelúja, allelúja.
℣. Hæc est vera fratérnitas, quæ vicit mundi crímina: Christum secúta est, ínclita tenens regna cœléstia. Allelúja.
Continuation ☩ of the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 6:17-23
And coming down with them, he stood in a plain place, and the company of his disciples, and a very great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast both of Tyre and Sidon, Who were come to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases. And they that were troubled with unclean spirits, were cured. And all the multitude sought to touch him, for virtue went out from him, and healed all. And he, lifting up his eyes on his disciples, said: Blessed are ye poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for you shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for you shall laugh. Blessed shall you be when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Be glad in that day and rejoice; for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For according to these things did their fathers to the prophets.
Sequéntia ☩ sancti Evangélii secúndum Lucam
Luc 6:17-23
Ps 149:5-6
Let the faithful exult in glory; let them sing for joy upon their couches; let the high praises of God be in their throats. Alleluia.
Ps 149:5-6
Exsultábunt sancti in glória; lætabúntur in cubílibus suis. Exaltatiónes Dei in gútture eórum. Allelúia.
May we perform with pious mind the sacramental rite, O Lord, in honor of Your holy Martyrs, and by them may both protection and joy increase for us.

It is truly meet and just, and profitable unto salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to Thee, O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God, through Christ, our Lord. Through whom the Angels praise Thy Majesty, the Dominions adore it, the Powers are in awe. Which the heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. And do Thou command that it be permitted us to join with them in confessing Thee, while we say with lowly praise:
Communis
But I say to you, My friends: Do not be afraid of those who persecute you.
Luc 12:4
Grant, we beseech You, almighty God, that we may follow more and more the faith of those whose memory we venerate in receiving the sacrament.
